Blue Chalk Podcast Series Wins International Awards
We’re thrilled to share that "Covering Their Tracks," Blue Chalk Media’s documentary podcast miniseries has received two international honors. It was "Highly Commended" in the "Audio - Historical" category at this year’s Association of International Broasting (AIB) Awards in London, UK, and won "Best Non-Fiction Podcast" at the Rio Webfest in Rio, Brazil.
Produced in collaboration with Tablet, Covering Their Tracks unravels the extraordinary story of Leo Bretholz, a Holocaust survivor who escaped from a moving train bound for Auschwitz and later fought to hold the French national rail company, SNCF, accountable for their role in deporting Jews during World War II. Through five compelling episodes, the podcast recounts Bretholz’s daring escape and his decades-long campaign for justice, as survivors like him sought an apology and restitution from SNCF while the company pursued lucrative rail contracts in the United States.
Covering Their Tracks, was nominated in its category alongside entries from BBC Radio 4, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and others. The AIB judges said the series was "captivating first-person storytelling detailing the banality of evil, executed
with simplicity and restraint.” Our CEO, Greg Moyer, joined Auspicious Co-CEO Barnaby Cook at the event on November 22 to celebrate the honor.
The AIB Awards honor excellence in factual television, radio, audio, and online productions from around the world. This year’s winners included projects from the BBC World Service and CNN Worldwide. Blue Chalk Media’s recognition continues a tradition of success at the AIBs, marking its eighth year being honored by the organization.
At Rio Webfest, "Covering Their Tracks" was an official selection and streamed during the festival on December 2nd. That evening, the awards ceremony took place in front of over 1,200 attendees at the Grande Sala of Cidade das Artes.
The Rio Webfes is one of the biggest web series festivals in the world and has taken place annually for almost a decade.
Covering Their Tracks, is available to stream now via Tablet Magazine, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
