Oh What a Night! Blue Chalk Launch Party

Yesterday marked Blue Chalk's six-month anniversary. We thought it would be a perfect opportunity to launch our website and get people together to learn more about what we’ve been up to since opening our doors in May.

So, on the eve of our anniversary we held a launch party (check out a Facebook album from the event) at Brooklyn Roasting Company, a coffee roaster and shop just a few blocks away from our Brooklyn office.

The rustic wooden floors, high beams and lofted ceilings in the refurbished industrial space provided a comfortable atmosphere in which guests could explore an iPad preview of bluechalk.com, while enjoying jazz and blues performed by The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn and a colorful array of hors d'oeuvres prepared by Riviera Catering.

Blue Chalk founder and CEO Greg Moyer welcomed guests to the event, introducing the staff and the company’s mission, then proclaiming Blue Chalk Media “open for business.”

Greg explained the long-term goal of the company is, “to help invent the business models that will sustain world-class visual storytelling at a time when legacy media support systems are showing signs of collapse.” He noted that, “it’s a hopeful time,” despite the moment of disruption in the industry.

Greg showed two of Blue Chalk’s productions First Sight: Sonia & Anita—created for nonprofit client WonderWork—and Restoring a Jewel: Beverly—produced for client the Hollywood Theatre

The program also included a surprise aerial silks performance by staff member Lisa Jamhoury (pictured above).

We owe the great evening to the warmth and enthusiasm of our guests and the energy and flexibility of our collaborators: Swargo Events, Brooklyn Roasting Company, The Blue Vipers of Brooklyn and Riviera Catering.
