About the Project
Blue Chalk Media worked with Airbnb on a new series called "Policy Buzz" that aims to highlight the local impact of different Airbnb policies and partnerships around the world.
This pilot episode focuses on three people from Kamaishi, a small town in northeastern Japan, who are attempting to change the perception of their town from that of a small industrial center, which was severely damaged by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, to more of a tourist destination.
The resulting film gives viewers an idea of each character’s connection to their town, why they choose to stay, and what their hopes for the future are. It also describes Airbnb’s role in supporting small businesses and guesthouses in their effort to attract more visitors.
