About the Project

Blue Chalk worked with The Weather Channel to produce a series of short films to be shared across the web and adapted for television. The films tell the stories of real people for whom having an accurate weather forecast is essential.

Our fourth film follows commercial bee-keeper, Dave Hackenberg, as he trucks thousands of bees across the country to pollinate the country’s crops. Winter through summer, Dave loads his semi with hundreds of hives and drives from the almond tree blossoms in California to Florida and then on to Pennsylvania for apples, and finally all the way up to Maine for the blueberry pollination. Dave must track the weather forecast closely for the first signs of warming temperatures so that he can get his bees to the blooms on time.
