About the Project

Blue Chalk worked with TIME to find stories where empathy and understanding arose from situations of conflict or crisis.

In the resulting series of three films, we meet a bishop in South Carolina who had to start over after a flood destroyed his home, a group of women in Texas who came together to provide relief for asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border, and two students from Oregon who are bridging the urban-rural gap in the state.

All three films are featured as part of TIME's "Apart. Not Alone" series which highlights the importance of coming together during times of hardship.
