About the Project

Art Zelin Photography hired Blue Chalk to create a promotional video for the celebrity photographer. “Art Zelin’s New York” profiles Zelin’s impressive catalogue of work while introducing the viewer to his unconventional style.

The son of a Mafia foot soldier, Zelin learned early not to take “no” for an answer. This served him well as he photographed elites and celebrities at New York’s hot spots in the 1960s–1980s. His more than 40,000 images range from the Beatles in concert to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis to Woody Allen and Mia Farrow and illustrate a world before 9/11 when doors to the private lives of the beautiful, rich and famous were open.

The Art Zelin Collection launched on Getty Images in 2015 and is available for licensing for the first time ever.
