A Dream of Sight
Dec. 21, 2017 : With SEE International
Next Project: The Promise of Oregon: Graduation is Victory →
After a successful first collaboration with SEE International on the film, A Chance To See Again, Blue Chalk was delighted to work on two new films to highlight the organization's work to cure blindness in the Peruvian Amazon.
Our team, which included photographers/cinematographers, Brent Stirton and Robo Wilson, along with producer Léo Hamelin, focused on the story of Señor José Rosas, a humble father of six with two very complicated cataracts who has never had access to care.
When José arrived at the Clinica Oftalmologica de la Selva in Tarapoto, SEE’s volunteer ophthalmologists discovered that untreated cataracts had essentially left him blind. In addition to cataracts, a previous car accident had further damaged José's left eye. Because of these issues, the chances of restoring even partial vision was quite slim.
In spite of the odds, José decided to go ahead with the operation and our team was there to capture the results.
