About the Project

Blue Chalk collaborated with TIME magazine to create its series, "The Influencers," a collection of discussions about current topics between influential people.

In this film, Blue Chalk traveled to the campus of Dartmouth College in New Hampshire to interview actor Connie Britton and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Former Dartmouth students, and roommates while semester abroad in China, the two women have remained friends and are both devoted feminists.

Britton has pushed for richer, more realistic female characters in film and TV while Gillibrand has become a powerful mentor for other women in the Senate, actively campaigning to get more women in office.

On a fall day in New England, the two discussed feminism, the importance of authentically representing women’s concerns in politics and on-screen, and the prospect of finally electing a woman president.
